The island of Aix, a place steeped in history

In addition to a very generous natural environment, the island of Aix is also a place full of history. A veritable fortress, the island once guarded the military arsenal of Rochefort.

With its fortified village and forts, the Fort de la Rade and Fort Liédot, it also played host to Napoleon Bonaparte during his last hours of freedom before he went into exile on St. Helena. The island has also dedicated a museum to him, where you can visit his room and see it just as it was.
