The Charente river is a river, which is now navigable for 170 km, between Angouleme and Rochefort. The Charente flows into the Atlantic Ocean after Rochefort, Port-des-Barques exactly opposite the Ile Madame.

You can rent a boat without a license, from water sports centres in major ports. This rental system will allow you to enjoy your holiday in freedom.

Near the Charente, beautiful villages deserve to be viewed. Saint Savinien, Port d'Envaux, or Crazannes, recall the rich history of the river, when barges were used to transport Cognac and Charentais wine to the ports on the coast. Saint Jean d'Angely, at the foot of the Boutonne is an ideal stopover for those wishing to enjoy the good life in the Charente region.
